SKYFOTO    OBSERVATORY

Home

This is my new observatory which was built in two, eleven hour Saturdays by my son Randy. The main stationary portion was done on April 16, while the rolling roof was done on April 23, 2005. I have been working on it every day since, doing things like painting, fabricating and hanging the door, hornet seals, etc.  The SkyFoto observatory is 10 x 10 ft. and has stand up room throughout with the roof closed.

As of May 3, it became operational.

The roof rolls open towards the west. It rolls on top of double 2x10"s x 20 ft. long on each side.  One side has an aluminum angle inverted with v-groove wheels riding on it to provide guiding.

The roof s very heavy. I want to look into power opening.

This is my new Paramount ME robotic mount with my new 12.5 Ritchey-Chretien telescope by RC Optical systems.  Also shown is the Takahashi Sky90 refractor and SBIG  ST-10XME camera.

I'm about ready for first light.  I need some weather.
